Our Story
Operating now for over 35 years, we continue to be a trusted partner in the reproductive community and remain one of the only FDA-Registered laboratories offering donor screening. We have recently expanded to offer at-home testing, making fertility testing more accessible to more people who need it.

1965
A History Rooted in Experience
Dr. Julio M. Cortes and his wife Eduvigis, experienced infertility first-hand. They gave birth to the first baby born in the US of a singleton pregnancy after an experimental trial of Pergonal.

1988
Unilab Founded
With over 40 years of experience in reproductive health, and a passion to help other couples struggling with fertility, Dr. Julio M. Cortes was uniquely positioned to create a lab specializing in endocrine testing and in-cycle monitoring.

1991
It's All In the Family
Dr. Cortes' son, Julio, current president, joined Unilab in 1991, supporting his father's mission to help couples experiencing reproductive challanges. Julio has led Unilab through many technological innovations and is thrilled to lead the team through the launch of at-home testing.

2005
Reproductive Donor Testing
Unilab began infectious disease testing in 2005, launching a comprehensive donor test. Unilab remains one of the few FDA-registered laboratories for donor screening, and a trusted partner in the reproductive community.

2024
At-Home Antimüllerian Testing
Unilab now offers at-home AMH testing. Using cutting edge technology, women suspected of having infertility or diagnosed infertility, can assess their ovarian reserve by collecting their own blood sample right from the comfort of their own home.
